About Us

Owner and Chief Instructor, Brian James, started his Martial arts at the age of 16.  His mom enrolled him into Taekwondo in 1987 because of his anger issues and she was looking for something that would help channel his energy into something positive. Martial arts changed his life.  He no longer went looking for trouble.  He went to his Martial arts school, sparred, sweated and made positive choices for his life.

In March of 2004, he opened his own Taekwondo school named Premier Taekwondo Center and he’s been serving the community of Slidell for over 20 years.  During that time, he has had the pleasure of changing many lives.  The most rewarding time of this adventure is when a former student or parent comes back to the school and thanks me for what he’s done in their or their child’s life.

In 2007 he started Jiu Jitsu.  He wanted something different…to learn something he had not already spent a lifetime developing.  His Jiu Jitsu path was rocky as he did not have a professor he could train under daily.  His professor at that time lived in Florida, and he would travel to his school twice a month, for a weekend, train and then come back and practice what he had learned. Although this was difficult, he was determined to learn the art of Jiu Jitsu.  In 2017, he earned his black belt under Samuel Puccio.  He was then was awarded his 1^st degree under Erick Raposo, who he is currently training under.
